Who We Are
MOMS Club stands for Moms Offering Moms Support. The MOMS Club of Birmingham-South, Al. is the local chapter of an international, non-profit organization that offers support for stay-at-home moms.
The MOMS Club was started in 1983 by Mary J, an at-home mother in California, when she decided she was tired of being alone at home. She wanted to meet other at-home mothers and she wanted to find other at-home children for her children to play with. When she discovered there were no other organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for at-home mothers, and the MOMS Club was born.
The chapter she started was so successful, she knew mothers in other areas must be needing the MOMS Club, too. Soon she and other volunteers were helping mothers start MOMS Clubs across the country and around the world! Since then the MOMS Club has grown to over 2,000 chapters with more than 100,000 members across the United States!
The MOMS Club of Birmingham-South, Al. has been operating since July of 2006. We are a group of moms living in or near Hoover, Helena or Pelham, Al. We get together with our kids to socialize, discuss issues related to being a mother and having children, and do service projects that support other moms and children. Most of our events center around both activities for kids and activities for moms. These activities include playgroups, moms night out, fieldtrips, park days, speakers, and service projects.
